Urban Outfitters comes to Leicester!

DSCN2343

In November last year I wrote about Urban Outfitters coming to Nottingham and now they have a brand new store opening in Leicester (about 30 mins away from Notts) and it is just all kinds of exciting!! I've come to the conclusion Urban Outfitters are like buses. You know, you wait ages for one and then two come along at once? (yep, great analogy there..). Anyway, I was lucky enough to be invited to the store opening in Leicester last week to have a look round the new store

I'm always amazed at how cool the mannequins are dressed in Urban Outfitters stores, definitely a place for fashion inspiration in terms of layering and mixing prints!

One of my favourite parts of the store was the little homeware section upstairs by the fitting rooms. I'm a bit of a sucker for homeware and random books and quirky ornaments so was eyeing up the Wes Anderson collection book and the fairy lights too so I think I shall purchase them on the next payday!

The store was so lovely and had a great old school feel to it - I think there will be many people spending many hours browsing through the shop floor.  It's located in such an easy to get to place too in the Highcross Shopping Centre so if you live in Leicester or are planning a trip there soon, be sure to pay it a visit! As well as being invited to the opening I was also lucky enough to pick out an item of clothing so I shall have an ootd post for that at some point next week!

Your Soul could never grow old, it's Evergreen // OOTD

'...because even in the mundane and even in the simplicity of everyday life, there is good, there is happiness and there is beauty'

Shirt; Urban Outfitters || Black top; Matalan || Jeans; New Look

Keeping it simple with a black top and bright orange/red shirt ohhh yeaaaaaah. I love the colour of the Urban Outfitters shirt and it's extra baggy which is great to just throw on for extra layers. The weather has been super lovely recently and a couple of friends from uni are leaving back to their home countries so I've been hanging out with them before they jet off across the world. One of the things I love about University in general is just the diverse range of people you will meet. I haven't traveled that much before but within the couple of years that I have been at uni I've learnt so much about different cultures and customs and interacted with people from countries I'd only dreamt of visiting. I've met people from Asia, Thailand, Greece, Cyprus, Romania, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Germany and so many other places I'd be here for a while if I were to list them all. I think a part of it are my chosen courses as I guess they typically attract international students but it's definitely something that will stand out about uni for me.

On a different note, I'm on the hunt for a new/better quality camera so if anyone can recommend any great ones that they take super awesome cool blog pictures with then do let me know!

Begin again // OOTD

Shirt; Urban Outfitters || Turtleneck; I have no idea but I'll say Vintage so it sounds cool || High-waisted jeans; New Look

WELL HAPPY NEW YEAR GUYS!!!!! How lovely is it to see in the New Year happy and healthy! I don't think I'll ever stop loving New Years and just the whole vibe going on around this time of year. It might be cliche or annoying for everyone to be like 'New Year, New Me!!' but I really, honestly, love it.  I've made some New Year resolutions this year too and I think, instead of trying to achieve them all at once, I'll concentrate on one a month, focusing on that. Apparently it only takes a month to break/get into a habit so I figured that would be a good take on it.

You know what else I'm loving...? This shirt from Urban Outfitters! (smooth link, real smooth...) I saw it on their website while browsing and just love the colour. I was actually in search of a jumper but thought I may as well pop this in to my basket too. It's actually a lot more richer in colour in real life than it was on the model but, unsurprisingly, I love it for that. I think I may have misjudged the size though as I got it in a large but ooooooohhhhhhhhhh welllllll, it's a nice piece to just throw on over something. I also purchased some high-waisted jeans from New Look which is not like me as I usually stick to standard skinnies but, yeah, I'm loving these too.

Hope you all enjoyed the New Year celebrations! Do you love New Year's as much as me or just hate it? How do you make sure you stick to your New Year Resolutions?

Lights will guide you home // OOTD

Coat* - c/o Urban Outfitters
Scarf - Some random market stall I think!
Rings - H&M

If you live in England you know how important/vital/crucial it is that you have the perfect/warmest winter coat. Well I guess England isn't THAT cold but idk I'm just always dreading winter and just wish I could hibernate for real.  Anyway, I've been on the hunt for a proper coat for ages now as I used to have a really flimsy one from Primark that was just getting me by so when I was invited to the Urban Outfitters press day last week (check out my post on it here) and kindly offered an item I thought it would be so cool to get one from their label! Gavina actually picked this out for me to try on and I remember thinking 'ohhhhh yeaaaaaaaaaah this is niiiiiiiiiiiice' because, firstly, I love the tartan print (but also that it's not too in your face and a lot more subtle than I've seen recently) and secondly I love that it's two-tone so it makes it look a bit more interesting. And of course IT'S SO NICE AND WARM. I got it in a size bigger and I feel like I'm walking round just wrapped in a duvet. Amazing. So thank you to the guys at UO for the gift!

I actually met up with Gavina last week and she kindly offered to take my photo's for this post and for her photography blog too! We found an alleyway in between some shops that was pretty cool and lit up all the way down so it seemed like a decent location to shoot. It was really nice to experiment with light actually and I'm loving how the shots came out so thank you to her for the photo's! Make sure to check out her photography blog HERE for some more photo's and her previous work.

I hope you liked this post! A little bit different but hey! Let me know your thoughts below and have a good week!

Urban Outfitters comes to Nottingham!!

GUYS URBAN OUTFITTERS IS NOW IN NOTTINGHAM AND IT'S SO COOL AND EXCITING.
Cool because, well, it's Urban Outfitters. Exciting because, you have no idea how much people have been talking about the store opening. It's like the highlight of the year for Nottingham shoppers (slight exaggeration? I dunno...) I was lucky enough to be invited along to the press day and went along with Gavina yesterday to take a look round which was pretty exciting! I've only ever been in the one in Liverpool One so it's nice to have one here in Notts that I can check out IN REAL LIFE instead of browsing through their online collection (and perhaps spend all my money in? Oh dear...)
Every time I go shopping I've started paying more attention to mannequins and how they're styled which I never really did before for some reason (I used to just ignore them and think 'oh they're dressed too cool for me to try' haha!).  I love the layering of different colours and textures on these mannequins and as soon as I finish writing up this post I'm going to YouTube how to tie a scarf/turban so I can gain extra cool points (you think I'm joking...)

Apart from loving the Urban Outfitters brand/style I also love love love the general design and vibe of the store.  It's a lot bigger than I thought and myself and Gavina kept commenting on the quite rustic/old school vibe it gave off with graffiti and street style art dotted around. There's also a Vinyl wall and an area full of quirky books and gift ideas (I'm pretty sure I saw a couple of furby's hidden at the back somewhere!) adding  to the whole shopping experience.

If you live in/near Nottingham and haven't done so already then you should probably go and check out the store for yourself, it's so flipppin cool! It's in such a great location too (the entrance to Victoria Centre) and it's opened just in time for some serious Christmas shopping. I'm so glad I got to go along to check it out so thank you to the guys at Urban Outfitters for the invite! I was also lucky enough to pick out an item so I shall do a separate outfit post for that so look out for that! Also, make sure to check out the #UONottingham hashtag on instagram for some pictures from their store opening party last night!

What do you guys think of the store?
